I was making some efforts to find info on banking sector in pakistan. Apart from what i was looking for, i came across a very good piece of info, while browsing through archives of The News:

Mobile phone banking to start in 2006 (Story as of March):

Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Dr Ishrat Hussain announced on Thursday that mobile banking would start in 2006 and cost of each banking transaction would be Rs5 only. Inaugurating NIFT-e-Trust here at a local hotel, he said from 2006 all branches of commercial banks would be made online initiating the mobile banking era. According to him, before the start of ATM the cost of clearing each cheque was Rs20 and "currently ATM clearing cost is Rs15".

He said with the start of mobile banking the chances of bank robberies would go down automatically and bank customers would be more secure and safe in making banking transactions. He said before the start of this century, there was hardly any ATM service in the country. However, he said there were still dangers of hacking and terrorism like activities and that threat would continue but the banking system should be ready to face these challenges. He was of the view that the banks were making serious efforts to adopt modern technologies.

1 year of non stop learning

today I am happy that i completed 1 year of non stop learning. exactly 1 year ago i came to this premises of mobileWeaver who was taking care of zyb at that time. then i moved to mobileWeaver itself (after some months i wud be celebrating 1 yr with mobileWeaver ;) . It would certainly remain one of memorable years of my life. i learnt a lot. made so many friends. came to know great poeple who are humble, have greatest level of ethics, down to earth and simply provide great enviornment. i don know how to thank 'em but i know i owe them a lot and they include all whom i have worked with: Abid gillani, umar akram, babar baig, taqweem anwar, Imran Aslam, Mansoor Qaisar, Farrukh Abbas, Sohail n Sarfraz, Aimal, TAK, Laeeq, Tariq, Ozman and yea Jibran and Tommy who were so supportive in initial days and most inspiring personality which actually attracted me towards mobileWeaver; Saleem Sb. I hope and pray that mobileWeaver marches along to achieve the highest level and every one be successful, even though i may remain with it or not.

Thanks to Almighty Allah for every thing and thank you all for your great support and providing me the chance to enrich my learning experiance.

When Mansoor Qaisar & Umar Akram posted this on their blogs, i thought Can we use these trucks for cheap advertising in Pakistan? These trucks go in faar flung valleys of North, in deserts of sindh, plains of punjab and rugged mountains of Balouchistan...wherever people live. They can be a good advertising channel for FMCG companies to communicate brand and product awareness. On the road they are followed by millions of cars and buses and coasters carrying passengers who are decision makers for a product purchase. So can these trucks influence? One thing i know is that they would be cheap and would serve a purpose of travelling billboards covering an area of thousand miles. Hey folks, what do you say? Should trucks be commercialized?

but the sad thing is that we cant access xyz.BLOGSPOT.com... this is totally bullshit from the govt. ahhh..........freedom of speech........ can't we protest in front of parliament house or somewhere aroud that place.
